Day 28 - Feb 2nd - 11 Stone 11 1/4

Watching Top Gear last night didn’t make me put any weight on.
Running low on provisions in the fridge because I am incapable of stocking up on food properly. I cobbled together this...
Yup! Chicken, mushrooms and peppers. Although it don’t look like much, it was actually pretty tasty.
So, first thing, a trip to the radio station to have a meeting with my boss took 30 mins out of my life I will never get back. Turns out a member of staff had listened early last Saturday and snitched on me about 1 tiny bit of my show. (some people really have nothing better to do) Apparently this was the first time they had listened. Thanks! They work for the rado station and this was the first time they listened? They should be fired!
Leaving there I decided retail therapy would help. I’ll go get some new luggage I thought. That was harder than I thought. So much choice, everyone telling me why theirs was better. I nearly bought this...
Honestly! Who buys a suitcase like this? Maybe Mel B from Bo’Selecta!
I gave up in the end and came home to do some work. WOW! Another busy one.
Lunch came in the form of... a tuna salad! Yes! No pic. Sorry. But then again you have seen plenty in my blog.
One of my jobs today included singing a commercial in the style of a West Country Farmer. If you listen to Radio City in Liverpool, you will be tormented by it during it’s run.
Tea was fun. Well I say fun, it was Salmon, mushrooms with fancy cheese and some peppers again. Mum always said “never play with your food” Why??? Look at this...
Fish Face I call it!
The evening was spent in the company of Colin Firth. Sorry I mean, I went to the flicks to watch The Kings Speech.
However, I undid all my low carb experiment as Raymond bought me a bag of M&M’s.
The plan to just have 3 or 4 went out the window. I didn’t look at the carb count but I am sure it was more than I have had all week. Mind you, I deserve a treat surely?
So the film was good, although the dick head who left his phone on and the woman in front who kept fidgeting became annoying. It kinda reminded my why I put a home cinema in, so I dodn't have to put up with these Timewasters. I also had an idiot sat behind who bought a dustbin bag full of popcorn and rustled it most of the way through the movie. It’s a pretty quiet movie and this buffoon dipped into his snack when the cinema was silent. Why do they do it???
The film? Oh yeah, really good. Nice work Colin!

Came home, had another 3 voiceover jobs waiting then turned in at 1am. Will the M&M's make a difference though. We'll find out in the next installment of... "The Blog"

Day 27 - Feb 1st - 11 Stone 12 1/2

Didn’t want to get up this morning. When I did...
Back down again? Oh, ok then. Cheers.
End of the month so it’s admin time in voiceover land. I get so bored of this part of the month it wasn’t long before I thought maybe breakfast would be better.
Oh yes! omlette with fancy cheese, mushrooms and pepper. I have to say another benefit of this low carb diet is the ability to create a great breakfast. Look at this...
Another crazy busy day today, including the confirmation that I will be the voice of the Glastonbury Festival radio station again.
Lunch today errr, that low carb favourite... tuna salad.
During the afternoon I did notice that my appetite is still no way near where it was 3 weeks ago.
Dinner tonight was another farm shop chicken breast, stuffed with Feta and wrapped in Italian parma ham and served with broccoli and mushrooms. Oh yeah! You wanna come to dinner don’t ya??
Decide to go shopping tonight. It had been a really good busy month of work during January. Time for a treat. Ahhh, arrived too late, only shops open were Debenhams and Sainsburys. All I treated myself to were these fancy kitchen utensils.
I am not a very good shopper really. Came home to some chicken and Philadelphia and chilled out with Sundays Top gear.

Day 26 - Jan 31st - 11 stone 11 1/2

What do you know? Back up again...

Boing! Said Zebadee!
Was up early today as there were several early bookings in the UAE. Did a gorgeous breakfast.
Yeah, look at that... bacon, eggs, mushrooms and all washed down with my mug of bouillon.
This morning it was back off to the job I started on friday for the new video game. I have no idea how many words I have read but the voice session was finally finished after 8 hours. I am so excited about the game.
After last Fridays disaster taking lunch with me. I decided not to. I ate when I came back. Mind you, I say ate. I had chicken pieces and Philadelphia to dip.

This is the one thing about this diet that I have noticed. I actually don’t get as hungry anymore. Normally by afternoon my stomach would be screaming for food. Maybe because I was really busy today too I just didn’t think about food??

I had a pre-tea today. I don't know what they are but I spotted mackeral in the fridge so thought I would try it. Actually pretty tasty.

My friend Dave who is living here too for a while, decided he’d cook. Ahhh, nice, a beuatiful prawn stir fry. I looked at the carb count on the sweet and sour sauce he was using and I pretended I didn’t read the 28g of carbs.
At this stage I can afford to splash out on a few cheeky carbs here and there but the way this experiment has taken me is I now feel guilty for it. I know I shouldn’t but it’s how it has changed my out look on food which amazes me.
Off to more Pilates in the evening, followed by a small chicken salad on my return.

The evening was spent again in the office writing out invoices. Oh Joy! Still, I managed to watch some of the shows I have been recording for months. Including Lee Mack’s brilliant, not going out.
I know I worked really hard at Pilates tonight. I am expecting a dip in weight tomorrow now. What do you think??

Day 25 - Jan 30th - 11 Stone 10 1/2

What? Down? How? After last nights Beef Burrito?
Now thats odd! I didn’t expect that today.
Off to the radio station for the radio show. Set off alot earlier as I was booked to do a voice over in Dubai at 5.30am. (it’s 9.30 over there). Sure enough they dialled into the studio, I read the script promoting the hotel at the end of the man made Jumeirah Palm and 15 mins later we were done.

Once again the show ran quite well. Pulled a clip from the show and stuck it on my Podcast. Talking about The Lovers Guide being released in 3D. How odd? Any how, it’s a free pod cast so why not check it out or subscribe to it on iTunes? Search Guy Harris. Or click here.

Home to another beautiful breakfast. Getting the hang of this omlette thing now. Chorizo ham, mushrooms and cheese.
Oh Yeah! Looks Tasty!
Today was pretty cold so I thought i’d wash the car. As you do on a cold day. Couldn’t feel my fingers by the end of it so they were useless to pick up a chocolate bar or crisps. Not that there are any in the house.

Lunch: A palma ham salad. Not the most adventurous sunday lunch but I was dining alone today.

Shopping for more food at the supermarket. Picked up another roast chicken to pull apart and snack on.

Now I feel bad posting this pic... :-(

Spent the rest of the day going through more admin and catching up on things around the house that I can’t during the week.

Day 24 Jan 29th - 11 stone 12 1/4

My weight is like a lift (elevator) in Canary Wharf Tower (Empire State Building) (overseas readers catered for)
Up and down up and down. It’s fun to watch. Although, having lost the weight I wanted to, I am still underweight.
If you have just tuned into this blog having been too lazy to go back to the start on Jan 6th. I’ll bring you up to speed...
So, before, during and after xmas I piled on weight onto my 6ft 3 slim frame. Due to eating lots of choc, crisps, white bread and carbs. I was 13 stone around new year. All my weight went straight on my belly. I eased my way down to 12 9 3/4 by the 6th and decided, for an experiment thanks to my friend Al introducing me to this, and to lose my belly, to give the low carb diet a try. See if it was all it’s cracked up to be. If you DO read all the blog. I think you will see it has been.

Breakfast: Well, breakfast came at 10.30 after I finished my 4 hour radio show. A good show today. However, there is a lot of unrest in Egypt at the moment and I made out I was giving away holidays to Cairo this weekend. I described it as "vibrant and lively" It sparked some controversy. Whoops.
Once home, I got the frying pan out... again... and did myself some beautiful farm shop sausages, mushrooms and eggs.
Lovely! It's amazing how before I would, like most, think a fry up like this would be a treat, not something you can have several times a week. Heaven!

The day was spent in the garden tidying it up, although with me having so many things on right now, I nipped down to the shop and stuck up a notice to find a part time gardener. I want a nice old retired gentleman who is happy to potter and earn a bit of cash. Although I will probably end up with 22 year old Wayne ringing and arriving on his motorbike with a chainsaw.

Nipped out to the garden centre with my mate. To my horror, rows upon rows of this S**t! Who is buying pottery rabbits and foxes?? There were hundreds of them! Job lot from China I should imagine. "hello mister garden man? I am Mr Wing Wong. You want rabbits and foxes? I do you nice price!"
2 O’clock, back for another massage. Ahhhh, bliss. Felt like I had been kicked by a horse after. Maybe I had? I did fall asleep, anything could have gone on.
In the afternoon I went with a friend to play pool which was cut short when the score reached 8-1 to me. For some reason she didn't want to play anymore. We went for a meal at a Mexican restaurant.

It was here where I felt most guilty. I scanned the menu to find my low carb option. Nothing. I asked if I could have a dish with veg instead of rice. “Hey mista, we got no veggies, arriba arriba” was the reply.
I thought about how under weight I now was and opted for a Beef Burrito. I don’t know what goes into a burrito but it sure looked full of carbs. Oh well.
It tasted great and I left a bit in the dish so as not to feel too bad about my choice.

I have to add here that this diet has been so good to my body that I now have very little desire to ram it with the rubbish I did before. It really does seem to work. Mind you, like tonight, it does make my food choices a little boring.
I came home and had a soak in the bath whilst reading more of Gary Taubes book. (a must if you are considering low carb diet)
I did take into the bathroom my low carb snack box. The intention to pop 4 or 5 cookies.
Yeah, that didn’t work. By the time I was done, the box looked like this...
I sat reading some of the forums at LowCarbSite.com Some great stories from others doing the same diet.
Tomorrow morning I am expecting 12 Stone 1. I bet it’s that! We’ll see.

Day 23 Jan 28th - 11 stone 11 1/2

Good Morning, the weekend is nearly here. Oh, this is interesting.
So down again with the weight. Despite eating late last night.
Breakfast: Bacon, eggs and mushrooms.
An early start at a Major Games developer only 5 mins from my house. 4 hours in the vocal booth putting the voices to a new video game to hit the stores soon. Unfortunately it’s hush hush right now but I know when it’s released it will be awesome.
So I took with me some lunch. A nice chicken salad to have whilst there. Well, guess who forgot it was at the bottom of my bag as I threw it into the car? And then threw it into the corner of the booth? Yeah. Moi!
Looks tasty? Not! Had it went I got back home.
A busy afternoon including more TV commercials for Jamster. Yes most of those adverts on MTV and the music channels selling you neat games and apps on your mobile... are me. Sorry.

This evening was a trip to have my hair cut. I travel 18 miles to have it done. Andreas Constantinou the Gordon Ramsey of hair. A genius with hair. Check his website acexclusive.com just brilliant.
Andreas is very social, what I mean is he likes a chat. It was  nearly 2 1/2 hours later when I left. With no tea yet and it getting too late to cook, I sought the help of Ashiq.
What I am saying is, I called in at a great Indian restaurant in Dewsbury. Naan and rice? On this diet? your kidding right? I ordered a Korma with Mixed Veg
I don’t know what else goes into the sauce along with cream (which I believe i’m allowed), but I pretended it was all good. The veg tasted great, although I pushed aside the 2 potatoes.
Arriving back home I had a sneaky delve into my low carb snack box. A couple of cookies. You gotta try them. I mentioned the website for them a few days ago in this blog.
Stuck the tv on for a bit then as it got to midnight I realised I am on air at 6am tomorrow. I had forgotton. Damn! BED! Goodnight!

Thursday, January 27

Day 22 - Jan 27th - 11 stone 12

Lets have a look at todays result... The scores are in...
Still the same. Interesting. Not even the rib eye last night could shake it up a bit. So what to have for breakfast? Mmmmm, sausages mushrooms and eggs.
It looked great on the plate, however my first booking in Dubai came just as the food was ready. Shhhh, don’t tell my client but during the session I was munching on the food. Which actually helped as I was voicing 3 ads in the style of The Godfather. Marlon Brando always sounded like he had a pork and apple sausage in his mouth whilst talking didn't he? I am such a method actor.
The day was pretty crazy today. During which I managed to find time to finally take the oven trays out of the Oven Pride bags. Look great.
However, I think leaving them in an extra 3 days was not so good for the non stick on the baking trays. Damn, shopping trip coming on.
Lunch came late in the middle of the afternoon. In the shape of a chicken salad. Not the most adventurous but filled a gap.
Meeting at the radio station in the afternoon with the boss of my radio show. Contract negotiations time. Turned down a 24 month contract in favour of a 12 month one. Looks like early mornings at the weekend for a bit longer.
At 7pm I raced off for a 90 min session of deep massage. Ahhh, bliss. Although I am pretty stress free on a day to day basis and have quite a calm life I believe, I am appalled at how many knots are in my upper back and shoulders. So I book in for Saturday and next Wednesday too. I now have a new hobby. Is it a hobby??
Home to a nice piece of salmon, tomatoes and mushrooms. When I say "home to", I don't mean my butler had it ready. It was his night off. <kidding>. Meanwhile Dave a friend staying here tucked into some more exciting prawn curry. Prior to eating I didn't feel that hungry. My appetite really has slowed down now since I switched to low carbs.
Settled down and watched The Switch with Jennifer Aniston. Which is almost what I did 10 mins in. Not the best movie I have ever seen. It’s no Man on Fire and no Blood Diamond. Still, wrote this blog during it. Killed some time.
No extra pilates tonight as the brief after massage was to take it easy. Easy done.

Day 21 - Jan 26th - 11 stone 12

The late night Pilates I think paid off.

I say paid off, my stomach felt a lot tighter. Is that a good thing? It felt good.
Over the last week and half I have stopped going on the running machine first thing as another experiment to see if exercise really does make a difference. Apart from my Pilates on a Monday, I have taken 5 x 40 minute treadmills sessions out of my routine and I have still been losing weight. So I stayed in bed reading more of Gary's book.

Breakfast: I was planning sausages but due to all my oven racks and trays still sat outside in a plastic bag in the garden with Oven Pride solution all over them...

I opted for an omlette again. Cheese, chorizo ham and mushrooms. This one looked better. Another thing I have learnt during this diet is how to cook a bit better. I use the words “a bit”.

The morning was busy for Voice work. Including voicing the TV ad for Duran Duran’s Live tour coming soon and more of those high energy United Carpets and Beds radio commercials. You may hear on as they are running on over 25 radio stations around the UK.
Lunch today... Errmmmm, another Tuna salad. So what? I like them. I used to have these before the diet began. It’s all good.

During the afternoon I popped off to get my jabs for Thailand.  I hadn’t even thought about them. It was my mum that prompted me. I was well out of date on them. The nurse stabbed by arms. As I type this i feel the pain.
Tea was going to be Ribs in Sheffield with a mate but due to a mix up on dates, that got pulled, so went with Raymondo back to the Steak place in town we dined at last week. I ordered Filet with Roast veg... again, he ordered Rib eye.

I am half way through mine and the fat on the steak is bothering me. I call over the manager. The waitress who insisted I was eating filet, screwed up again. She did this last week. I had eaten half the rib eye. I thought it tasted different. Arrrgggg! Idiots. He said he would swap them. As I looked across at my Filet, Raymond had practically eaten it all. Swap??? Timewaster!!! 2 weeks in a row and the waitress still doesn’t know what the steaks look like. They knocked one off the bill and we left. Qubana you suck!
Another voice job came in this evening for an X Factor style voice over to introduce a big event at a Theatre in London. It’s time... to face... the voice booth. It's gonna sound huge. Job well done I thought.
Relaxing in the evening with some more low carb cookies and then some more pilates before bed. Good night Low Carb World!
